How to choose the hardness of silicone keys/seals/plugs and other products
The first step in customizing a silicone rubber product is to communicate the hardness of the product.
If you are in charge of a custom project, you should be well aware that the hardness of solid silicone is 30H-80H, with every 10H being a step.(30H/40H/50H.....80H)
The higher the value, the higher the hardness, while the toughness of the product decreases.
Classification of commonly used products:
1. Silicone keypad/keyboard: usually use 60H
2. Silicone sealing : usually use 30H-50H
3. Silicone cover: usually use 30H-50H
I'm sure you'll be able to tell the difference. Products that need to be protected require the silicone material to be soft enough. So choose a material with low hardness.
